I finally messed with my Munny

I finally went in blew the dust off of my Munny that Fidel got me for my birthday and I made this lil thing out of it.  So this combined with the Mini Bin I made earlier,

I'm ready to put the glue gun and the fake moss down now for a while.  Which is both good and bad.  I was just starting to get decent at glueing small things.  But also...still hated the crap out of it...There's some 3d freelance work in the horizon.  So I'll be going digital again for a while.

Praying Walrus - Illustrator

Here's another one that I cranked out.  I also had a chuckle from this drawing so I put a little more effort when I cranked it out. Now it's time for me to mess with Zbrush...

Halloween Party (x-posted)

I'm currently in the beautiful city of El Paso.  I currently say beautiful because the weather is just right.  Sunny with a light coolness.  I'm here of course mainly to participate in another our traditional halloween parties.  I even got to this years flyer. .............and..............here it is:
Since our costumes are based on the Blue Man Group, I've decided to make the flyer based on that same theme.  So, anyone in El Paso who's reading this blog  (which is no one, by the way), here's where the good shit is going to be this Saturday!

Mudbox More Adventures

Just out of the blue I just started messing with one of the templates on mudbox and well, I started liking where it was going, so here's what  i got going so far...I'm trying to decide what kind of dude this guy this should be... soo many directions, once I figure something out, I'm going balls out,....for  now, it's simple muscle structure...

Here's the back of him..

What should I do? Should I make him a fat dude? a zombie? a self portrait? Vick Macket from THE SHIELD? I've got a perfectly good virtual made body and I don't know what to do with it. I'm sure I'll think of something...

Even More sketches

I drew these on St. Patty's Day at my ol' watering hole, the backstage. It was awesome. I had corned beef with the cabbage and mashed potatoes and green beer and just drew as the place started filling up with people. I eventually felt I had to go home and tend to other things and didn't want to spend any more money or drive home too drunk so I took my leave home. I was going to paint the muppet coachella on the trash bin but I'm changing my mind about it. It's way too involved. I'm thinking I'm going to go for something simpler and poppier.I'm sure I'll take pics of the trash can in it's current state and upload those very soon. Bedtime. Gnitey.

I might as well updatet this thing.

So I've been scanning my sketchbooks and putting them on my site. These last few days I've even gone as far as coloring some in. Here are some of them.  There's plenty else to see in my website, if you haven't in a while or at all.

Adventures with MudBox

So I'm getting reaquainted with the new Mudbox. It's certainly more user friendly this time around and they come with generic templates for you to fuck with. After I spend a few minutes adding massive shlongs to every creature, I decided to take one a little more seriously and I got a good part of a dino done. I was still a little clumsy at first but I'm starting to get a good feel for the tools now and I guess it can only go up from here. Next it'll be time for stamps and colors and just. I'll have a bad ass new 3d portfolio in no time.

I've got earlie all painted up...now it's just a matter of busting out the frames for it....I'll probably have to leave the bark soaking in water for a while...whatever it is i gotta figure it out so i can move on to some other stuff...

My final Art Piece

My last class project. It was fun times. I shaped this way to fit a cool frame I bought. I did the colored pencil on bristol paper which i blended with turpanoid. I then mounted that on cold press board with acrylic medium and painted on top of that. It's maybe about a foot long?
Anyhoo, now I have to decide on a new class. I think I might do sculpting. That'd be cool. I might do painting portraits too..

Chimp Final

Now there's the final. I like the impact and colors of the other image I did, but I like the detail work and generally the chimp way more in this one. Now I can move on to other things and put this puppy down as a finish though. More to come..

WaterColoring Adventures

So this is what I've gotten done with my watercoloring. Oddly enough, this isn't the final I'm turning in. This was just me getting used to using watercolors more. The teacher doesnt want people using white for this assignment, so I'm going to have a pickle of a time getting that one done. This one was done with cold press and my final will be in hot press, so it'll be interesting what differences I'll learn in that. It might be more of a piece of shit done that way.

I'm starting to warm up to watercolors and I imagine if I spent more time with them, I could be quite good at using them. They're like a mix of using acrylics and markers at the same time.

I've got cool new wood frames from the mail now so I can proceed forward with other works I've been dealing with. Man, I wish I could just paint full time...I bet I'd turn into captain awesom asshole in no time...

Just about finished Homework assignment

This was a homework assignment where we had to pick from two poems. One involved playing with matches and one with sucking your thumb and both with dire consequences. Guess which one I picked? I was thinking of doing the thumb one in an over the top homo erotic sort of way but then for some reason I decided to be a little more sensible. I guess there's always next time.

This was a different method of painting where we applied a rough texture to cold press board and then painted on top of that. We'd then use the texture to do the blending for us. It was an interesting method but I'm more of a wet on wet brush for sort blender. It's always good to learn new things and I did so all in all, good times were had.

Watercolor is the next project so I'm little worried as I remember the last time I messed with watercolor it was a horribly mess but this time it looks like I'm approach it more like a pro. I gotta get supplies now. I think this time around I'm going to the $100 projector I just got and get the real good shit going. I'll scan in some life drawing I did yesterday in as well later.

Squidbillies - Rusty,

There it is. My finished version or Rusty, at least finished for now. Decided to darken the trees in the background so you can see the rusty better. Now it's time to do early.

squidbillie progress

I'm in the coloring phase, so far so good. I'm having fun certainly. Added a nice simple background. I can't wait to work on Early. Huuray

squidbillies omage

alright, i did a quick half assed scan of one of them...since it's not anywhere near done, it doesnt matter much about the scan...I'll do it better once I get further along...anyhoo, there it is :) more to come

Rabbit Final

I think it came out alright, there's a few things I could have done better or at least more interesting. The thing he's standing on for example, I think when it's at the final size, 4x5, I think it overall works overall...Hopefully the next one will be better. I'll hopefully post my squidbillies paintings very soon.
